Established in Croydon during COVID but now based in Brixton, South London, here’s our story so far…
LocalMark is the brainchild of our founder, James
James is an IDM-qualified digital marketer with more than 25 years’ expertise.
In 2001 with his family, James established Europe's largest and fastest indoor karting venue.
In 2007 James established LocalMark’s parent company, advising small business owners on their digital strategies, something he is still passionate about to this day.
In 2014 James cofounded what quickly became the UK's leading loyalty platform for local businesses.
The impact of COVID on local businesses
The UK's COVID lockdown restrictions of 2020 led to so many of our local business partners closing their doors, some permanently.
As a result, our loyalty business became unsustainable and we had no choice but to close it down.
Shortly afterwards we also had to close our karting venue.
A local SEO phoenix from the ashes…
With time to reflect, and a determination to help local businesses not only survive but thrive, James interviewed dozens of local business owners about their biggest challenges.
Most had exactly the same challenge - even before COVID - and that was how to cost-effectively acquire new customers.
Some were spending hundreds and even thousands of pounds each month on search and social ads, but the enquiries they received often didn't even lead to sales.
James saw an opportunity in local SEO.
